I'm a character designer and a soundtrack composer , kojiro miura is a name of one of my favorite heroes manga character i have created before. . As a beginner and as a fan of adventures stories , i decided to enter the music making field to make my own music , which is closed to manga and anime and game style. A theme i composed* on cubase with edirol orchestral samples. I use some of these themes on radio dramas and readings that i put out on my radio show. I haven't used this one yet but i'll put out some more that i have and haven't used it he coming months - no need to attribute the source, just use away. *compose is an excessively generous word for my trial and error use of the piano roll function.

Ok, i don't know how many of you might be interested in this, but i figure there's no harm in posting it. I'm working on some original songs. Laptop-based, electronic songs, with many orchestral parts, including violin, viola, cello, and string bass. Presonus studio one has some very nice vst string instruments, and i have some really great ones for kontakt. But they all are missing one thing, and i couldn't find the (admittedly esoteric) sound that i'm looking for anywhere on the internet. Being a viola player myself, i recorded myself playing these very particular incidental sounds. Let me explain-. There's this 'grabby' sound that a well-rosined bow makes just is it is first being drawn across the string. Listen carefully to any of the pros and you'll hear it. In your laptop sequences, if used subtly, right at the point where the first note of a phrase is initiated, this sound can give the string part a marked sense of realism*. This, combined with vibrato, reverb and a nice warm/tube/tape saturation setting, nobody will be able to tell the difference between your vst and the real thing. About the audio-i tried to keep them as pitchless as possible, thus not limiting their utility. I recorded two sets of all four open strings (c, g, d, a), first close mic'ed, and once from a few feet away, in stereo. Or to say it another way, the sounds are as follows-1. Open c close2. Open g close3. Open d close4. Open a close5. Open c far6. Open g far7. Open d far8. Open a far. It's totally overkill for me to record all the different versions, but i suppose somebody out there might find one more appropriate than another for their purposes. They work pretty effortlessly for violin and viola, but you might have to pitch them down for cello and string bass. I added no processing whatsoever, apart from normalizing each individual sound. Aiff, recorded at 44/16. Nady scm-2090 stereo condenser mic, focusrite saffire pro 24 interface, recorded in logic. Done with hdp2 and two sennheiser mics 66 67, was in 24 bit 96khz, downconverted to 16b at 44. 1, a relatively clean recording at a very high level.

Pajarito it's the name of the song. What you hear are jacanas, the small traditional guitars used by jarocho's musicians, and one requinto guitar (and some kids laughing). Playing jaranas: elías meléndez, who i personally dubbed as "the muddy waters of son jarocho" -he passed away on 2017-; arturo barradas, leader of soneros del tesechoacan, a famous jarocho music band, and his son, young elías barradas. Playing the requinto guitar is adrián luna, who for many years was a member of the grammy awardees group los cojolites. Adrián luna's voice is on one song (el conejo) included in the soundtrack of the two oscars winner and internationally recognized movie frida (2002). Amateur guitar plucking of a tune of my own making, mainly on one string up and down the fret board. Recorded august or september 1984 when i was 15/16. Cassette is a basf cr2-90 (1 of 3). Recorded on my fidelity hi-fi tower, with microphones jacked in. The extra guitar strums near the end were actually unrelated, a technical glitch made an impression of the previous recording to bleed through. Audio has been uploaded using alesis usb tape deck link to audacity, no editing or noise removal was utilised.

This contains 2 different uses of the same notes. One higher, and the other lower. I think it has an air of mystery to it.

A 5 minute sound file made by muting the strings of one of my banjos and playing a small range of finger patterns in mixed order. Recorded direct to my computer with a few adobe auditions effects added to enhance the sound. A great fit to a short story or thought-provoking piece of work.

Generative modular acid line sequenced with my own custom script that is specialized for non-quantized sort of strings of notes. I mangled the envelope quite a bit though so it just sounds more swingy than anything i guess. Not sure what the bpm would be. Would be better if it were cut up for one-shot sounds maybe.

An instrumental piece i made in garageband for something called victors crypt!. I combined a beat i made on a drum machine with one i made on sampled drums to make it really swing. I added a cocky simple bassline to build more sounds to. Strings, horns and synth sounds were added as well. . . . Could be useful in anything cool, intro, outro, game, dark, eerie, spooky, creepy, scary, horrific, mysterious, crime-ish, thrilling or whatever comes to mind.
